Shortly after earning her B.F.A. in technical theatre from the University of Memphis, Virginia found her way to Ashland. She joined Oregon Shakespeare Festival as assistant to the costume shop manager/buyer and quickly became a principle wig maker - a position she held for eighteen years.
With extensive experience in all areas of costuming, Virginia has worked at Sacramento Theatre Company, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, Virginia Stage Company, Kentucky Opera, Tennessee Ballet, and O.S.F. Portland to name a few. Closer to home, she has enjoyed a long association with Camelot Theatre Company, Oregon Stage Works, Rogue Opera, and Oregon Cabaret Theatre, as well as working in film, television, and commercials.
In recent years Virginia has discovered a passion for assisting people as they cope with the devastating effects of catastrophic hair loss, and is proud to be a key volunteer for the American Cancer Society's "Look Good Feel Better" Program.
She offers hope, self-confidence, and encouragement through hair replacement, and to that end is using her twenty plus years expertise as Wig Master to open a business, Wigs by Design, devoted to filling this underserved need.
